ABOUT US
Doug Durand is a native resident of the small Mississippi river town of Plaquemine, in the heart of South Louisiana's Cajun country. He has been fascinated with photography for as long as he can remember, and has been shooting pictures of all types of subjects since he was about 10 years old, when his father gave him an old Kodak Brownie Camera.
April Durand is a native of Carencro, Louisiana and now lives in Plaquemine with Doug and thier two dogs, Bouillon a 9 year old Chocolate Lab, and Poppie a 3 year old Beagle. Aprils love of the outdoors and photography came at an early age while both shrimping and fishing with her dad, and working for her grandfather who is also a Photographer.
Over the many years, both Doug and April have shot literally tens of thousands of images of all types using many different types of cameras, formats, and films. Over the last 6 years though, Digital Photography has become thier driving passion and means of expression. Of the many digital cameras we have used, we now rely exclusively on the Nikon D1x as our main working camera.
Doug Quote: "The Nikon D1x brings more flexibility to the table than any other digital camera I've worked with so far. Its myriad of features empowers the artist with unparalleled freedom of expression. Its simply the best camera I have ever worked with."
Our sincere hope is that you will find something that captures your attention and your imagination here at Backroads Studios Photography. Please let us know if it does.
